The Evening „Back to the Future”
Yesterday, in our school took place the evening organized for teachers. The main topic of the evening were the
80s and the years of Polish People’s Republic. School council took care of the auditorium’s design: gillyflowers,
record players, propaganda posters. “Banana song”, “The Rowanberry”, “Don’t be anxious about me”, ”Don’t be
so rapid Bill” – these are only some of sung and danced hits. There was also a presentation with “the pearls” of
Polish People’s Republic and slides with our teachers’ photos from their youth. All participants were dressed
according to the fashion of 80s. After this part there was a Karaoke during which songs of old days were sung.
Everybody had a great time despite of some technical problems. This event was organized by Mr Remigiusz
Łuc, Ms Katarzyna Ciesielska, Ms Katarzyna Terlecka-Kurcz and Ms Kamila Chomik.

17th June 2011
Japan – so far and simultaneously so close!
Holidays are so soon but students and teachers don’t slow down. They invent more and more exotic attractions.
This time, on Friday afternoon the 17th June the lovers of the Flowering Cherry Country came to our school’s
auditorium at the invitation of four students from class 2a: Angelika Dąbrowska, Małgorzata Gawlik, Marta
Sikora and Gabriela Suchecka. They prepared the educational project about Japanese history, culture and art
under the supervision of Ms Katarzyna Ciesielska. The authors of the project encountered the participants with
general information about its geography, the origin of its name, population density, cross-section of society,
religions, etc. They focused on hallmarks which surely are keywords: sushi, origami, ikebana, bonsai, sumo,
jujitsu and many more expressions giving us –the Europeans – the picture of what far Asian friend deal with.
To break with the stereotype of silent Japanese who loves Chopin and meditates every day, our students
presented for contrast the examples of Japanese hard rock and they referred to the shocking image of angry
Young Men – visual kei or neo visualizm. In this way completely surprising Japan emerged to us. The meeting
was very attractive because our students borrowed for this occasion the original kimonos from the Japanese
Culture Centre in Przemyśl. Małgorzata Gawlik dressed in the kimono with a suitable hairstyle and make-up
was very convincing as a young Japanese. Each person could look closely at the kimono, try it on for a moment
and take a photo. All participants read also the Japanese comics (Manga). Students took also care of the
culinary and served sweet rice with cherries. This performance was accompanied by a multimedia presentation.
It was an unusual meeting during which two so different cultures were linked harmoniously.
See photos.

At 8 pm after the project presentation began the 2nd School Film Marathon. For 12 hours movie maniacs were
discussing about their favourite films, actors, directors and were broadening their knowledge about film making.
Students were under the care of our teachers all the time. In the evening Ms Jolanta Chmielewska, Ms Hanna
Kopciewicz and Ms Małgorzata Klepacka took care of the students and from evening till morning they were
together with Ms Katarzyna Ciesielska, Ms Kamila Chomik, Ms Anna Lubińska and Mr Remigiusz Łuc.

On 6th June our students went for a three-day trip to Ruszelczyce, small village near
Przemyśl, together with three teachers. Just after the arrival students spent time
together by playing volleyball, football, badminton and so on. In the evening there
was a special surprise for them prepared by scouts. It was an obstacle course. The

obstacle course began with typical PE exercises, like abdominal workout, push-ups or sit-ups. Then,
students ran with a log, crawled in mud and they also had to jump over the obstacles on the course. Despite
of difficulties all participants dealt with obstacles very well. During the trip they also roasted sausages and
sang at the fire. In the evenings they participated in discos, a film marathon and a Karaoke, during which

3rd June 2011
The Day full of incredible emotions!
On 3rd June our school was given the name of Szare Szeregi in a very solemn and festive way. The ceremony
began with the Holy Mass in the cathedral celebrated by Archbishop Adam Szal who delivered a moving
sermon full of reflections and blessed the standard of Gymnasium No 3. In the church students also took an
oath. The Archdiocesan Choir “Magnificat” added splendor to the mass by creating unusual atmosphere thanks
to their singing. At the end of the Mass they sang an anthem of Szare Szeregi. In the Mass participated also
standard-bearers from schools of Przemyśl as well as 21st Scout Team of Przemyśl under the name of Szare
Szeregi.

After leaving the cathedral the parade was formed and we marched through the streets of Przemyś, l to the
accompaniment of the orchestra, to Gymnasium No 3. At school the commemorative plaque was unveiled
by Professor Wojciech Wolski- the leader of the Central Administration of Szare Szeregi, Mr Marian
Kasprowicz – the commander of the Circle “Przemyśl”, Mr Robert Choma – the Mayor of Przemyśl and Mr
Stanisław Kołodziej - the Headmaster of Gymnasium No 3. The plaque was blessed by Bishop Adam Szal.

Then, the ceremony was continued in the gym. The Chairman of the Town Council Mr Jan Bartmiński read the
Town Council resolution about the giving the name of Szare Szeregi to our school. The Chairman of Parent
Council Mrs W. Kurzyńska gave the Headmaster the Standard Foundation Act. Another important point of the
ceremony was driving commemorative nails to the treebeard by the Godparents. The standard prepared in this
way was given to students. There were also speeches of people participating in the ceremony (parliamentary
representatives, councilors, representatives of the educational authorities), entries into Commemorative
Books, an occasional exhibition in the school hall and a meal.

The members of Szare Szeregi, our honorable guests, were the heroes of the day. The leader of the Central
Administration of Szare Szeregi - professor Wojciech Wolski – arrived from Warsaw specially for us. Mainly
for them was presented the montage of word and music “Do not leave, generation of Columbus…” prepared
by Ms Małgorzata Klepacka. Music and choir performance was prepared by Ms Barbara Terlecka. The
members of Szare Szeregi were very touched by listening to poems and songs illustrating the years of their
youth during the World War the 2nd. They didn’t hide their tears. Our guests could also see the multimedia
presentation containing unique photos and archival materials which was prepared by Mr D. Schultz. Technical
part of the ceremony was ensured by Mr R. Łuc. The members of Szare Szeregi Association were so grateful
that they gave us a lot of precious memorabilia, scout publishing which will be very useful in deepening our
knowledge about the patron.

Gesture of solidarity - more than a thousand of paper cranes forJapan!
As soon as we learned that the editors of "Gazeta Wyborcza"and the Museum
of Japanese Art and Technology 'Manggha' in Cracow organized a campaign -
a gesture of solidarity with Japan in the form of a thousand paper cranes - we
decided to support this idea. Without any hesitation we started to work and finally

we managed to make 1111 cranes. Paper birds – the symbols of happiness and longevity for the Japanese -
were created during design technology lessons. Mrs. Ewa Prajzner – the organiser of Origami Club in our
school - was the coordinator of the campaign. The cranes will go to Cracow and then to residents of
Kesennuma, the city destroyed by the earthquakes and tsunami waves. We hope that this gift will help
people in Japan to find strength in this difficult times.

atmosphere was unique. During the marathon we were honored by the presence of a special guest – Mr Rafał

All Soul’s evening
Yet another musical evening was organized in our Gimnazjum. We devoted it entirely to those who passed
away :( We remembered famous musicians and students of our Gimnazjum who died prematurely. Our
audio-visual hall gathered teachers, students and also our graduates who came to honour their deceased
friends. The evening was exceptional. Most of us had teary eyes but we went our filled with hope that as
long as we remember those who left our earthly world - our late beloved friends and idols will live in our
hearts. The fact that we still care makes them immortal. Thanks to this evening we also reminded ourselves how fragile our life is and that we should cherish every precious day we are blessed with.

History lesson
In order  to celebrate the 92 anniversary of regaining the independence, Gimstopy went on a special rally in
the custody of Mrs. E.Prajzner, Mrs. K.Ciesielska, Mrs. M.Klepacka, Mrs. E.Semań and Mr. D.Schulz.
The route led along the streets in Przemyśl and the trail of Marshal Józef Piłsudski memorials. Our trip
began at the Memorial of Przemyśl Eagles  where  the guide from PTTK Mr. Leszek Koman told us a very
interesting story about the young defenders of our city. Then we went to the Wybrzeże Piłsudskiego  and
Wodna Street,  where  is a bust of the marshal, and where we could  learn some details about the life of
the great Polish leader. The next stage of the journey was the Hill of the Three Crosses, but first we went
to the Cathedral, where now  the two original crosses from the  hill are kept. We were also walking around
the town park.  The rally finally  ended in the vicinity of the Tartar Mound. A contest of the  knowledge
about Przemyśl was organised there. The first place took Jakub Trawnicki, the second place Michał
Sarzyński and the third place Wiktor Kowal. The winners got awards and diplomas.

We shall remember those who passed before us...
It’s already been a tradition for “Gimstopy” to actively participate in the action “All Soul’s Day with PTTK”.
The action’s purpose is a trip to local cemeteries and learning about the places where outstanding citizens
and the World War’s soldiers of different nationalities rest in peace. This year over 40 of our students together
with their teachers E.Prajzner. M.Klepackiej. A.Lubińskiej, E.Semań visited native necropolis to see the most
interesting relicts of sepulchral culture. Among them we could admire unique sculptures and statues. Thanks
to our guide – Mrs Beata Groszewska, our students could get familiar with the history of our region and learn
the biographies of those who made history. It was a perfect occasion for better understanding of our ancestors’
past and proper reception of multiculturalism of Przemyśl – place where people of different nationalities –
Polish, Ukrainian and Jewish coexisted.
