Japan – so far and
simultaneously so close!
Holidays are so soon but students and teachers
don’t slow down. They invent more and more
This time, on Friday afternoon the 17th
June the lovers of the Flowering Cherry Country
came to our school’s
auditorium at the invitation of four students
from class 2a: Angelika Dąbrowska, Małgorzata
Sikora and Gabriela Suchecka. They prepared the
educational project about Japanese history,
culture and art
under the supervision of Ms Katarzyna Ciesielska.
The authors of the project encountered the
general information about its geography, the
origin of its name, population density, cross-section
religions, etc. They focused on hallmarks which
surely are keywords: sushi, origami, ikebana,
jujitsu and many more expressions giving us –the
Europeans – the picture of what far Asian
friend deal with.
To break with the stereotype of silent Japanese
who loves Chopin and meditates every day, our
presented for contrast the examples of Japanese
hard rock and they referred to the shocking image
Young Men – visual kei or neo visualizm. In
this way completely surprising Japan emerged to
us. The meeting
was very attractive because our students borrowed
for this occasion the original kimonos from the
Culture Centre in Przemyśl. Małgorzata Gawlik
dressed in the kimono with a suitable hairstyle
was very convincing as a young Japanese. Each
person could look closely at the kimono, try it
on for a moment
and take a photo. All participants read also the
Japanese comics (Manga). Students took also care
culinary and served sweet rice with cherries.
This performance was accompanied by a multimedia
It was an unusual meeting during which two so
different cultures were linked harmoniously. See photos.
At 8 pm after the project presentation began

discussing about their favourite films, actors,
